BACOLOD City – The city council condemned “in strongest terms” the attempt to assassinate Julius So Jamero, provincial director of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Negros Occidental, earlier this month.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) approved last week the resolution condemning the attempt. It was authored by Councilor Ricardo Tan.
Tan said the attempt to kill Jamero “sends a chilling message that peace and order in Negros Occidental is deteriorating.”
“[The SP] condemns in the strongest terms possible the cowardly act of the assassin in attempting to take the life of Jamero, a good person who has enthusiastically shared his vision to educate the youth, equip them with the necessary skills and ignite their creativity in order to face life’s present and future challenges,” part of the resolution said.
Jamero sustained six gunshot wounds after an unidentified suspect fired at him around 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 7, a police report showed.
Jamero was on board an Isuzu Crosswind when attacked. He slowed down as he was about to make a right turn from F. Lacson Street to Magsaysay Street in Barangay Zone 12, Talisay City, Negros Occidental when the gunman fired at the vehicle seven times.
Rescuers and police found Jamero unconscious and brought him to a private hospital in the city where he became “stable.”/PN
