ILOILO City – Hack wounds on the head and left arm sent a village watchman from Barangay Cabugao Norte, Santa Barbara, Iloilo to the hospital.
Hermoso Panes, 59, was attacked at around 8:50 p.m. on Wednesday.
He was taken to the West Visayas State University Medical Center in Jaro district.
Police identified a suspect – Ronilo Jarloc, 21, also of Barangay Cabugao Norte, Santa Barbara.
An altercation between them prompted the suspect to grab a bolo and charge at the barangay tanod, police said, citing witnesses.
Their relatives stopped the fight. Some of them rushed Panes to the hospital.
Jarloc fled toward an unknown direction after the incident, police said.
