ILOILO City – Police in Leganes, Iloilo recovered an unlicensed firearm after a woman in Barangay Lapayon accidentally shot herself.

The 32-year-old Genalyn Jalbuna was hit on the left leg.

Jalbuna accidentally pulled the trigger of a .38 pistol at around 10:40 a.m. yesterday, a police report showed.

She was rushed to the West Visayas State University Medical Center in Jaro district.

“She is now stable. She will undergo surgery and in three to four days, she will be discharged from the hospital,” said Senior Inspector Dadje Delima, Leganes police chief.

The firearm was turned over to the municipal police.

“No charges will be filed against the owner since the firearm was surrendered and not seized from her possession,” said Delima./PN
