ILOILO City – Police in the component city of Passi in Iloilo province arrested a 31-year-old resident on New Year’s Day.
They seized from Noel Chavez of Barangay Jaguimitan an improvised .22 pistol and 25 live ammunition, a police report showed.
Chavez and the recovered items were in the custody of the Passi City police station.
A drunken Chavez was “creating alarm and scandal” in their village at around 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 1., the police report stated.
Officers recovered the gun and ammunition from him upon his arrest.
Unable to present pertinent documents proving his legal ownership of the weapon, Chavez was facing a charge for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, police said./PN
