KALIBO, Aklan – The crime volume in this capital town dropped 25 percent, according to the Kalibo police station.
From 2016’s 2,292 crimes, the number decreased to 1,706 in 2017.
Records from the Kalibo police station showed that the monthly average number of crime incidents in the town last year is 170, lower than 2016’s 228.
Index crimes dropped from 2016’s 644 cases to 2017’s 485.
Among these crimes, physical injury cases posted the highest frequency with 207 cases, followed by theft with 204, motornapping with 30, robbery with 22, rape with 13, homicide with five, and murder with four.
Non-index crimes also dropped, from 483 cases in 2016 to 388 in 2017, a 19-percent decrease.
The top non-index crimes in 2017 included alarm and scandal with 119 cases, light threats with 97, malicious mischief with 47, unjust vexation with 40, other deceit with 19, acts of lasciviousness, nine, direct assault, seven, slander, five, and grave threats and estafa each with four.
The decrease was attributed to the intensified anti-crime police operations. The Kalibo police station’s crime solution efficiency rose to 62.9 percent in 2017 from 46.44 percent in 2016./PN
