P900-T shabu seized in Silay

BACOLOD City – A drug suspect was arrested while another escaped after police served a search warrant in Sitio Iglesia, Barangay Balaring, Silay City, Negros Occidental.

Police arrested the 35-year-old Junrey Jumatay, a newly identified drug suspect, a police report showed.

Jumatay’s companion, the 37-year-old Mark Valesco, managed to evade the arrest around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, the report further stated.

Recovered from their possession were nine sachets containing suspected shabu worth about P910,000, police said.

Jumatay and Velasco, both residents of the village, were suspected members of the Allain Gamboa drug group.

Police also confiscated from them P2,500 cash, drug paraphernalia and a notebook with drug transaction information in it.

Joint elements from the Silay City police station Drug Enforcement Unit, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team, and Regional Public Safety Battalion 6 staged the operation.
