BACOLOD City – He was outnumbered that was why he did not file his certificate of candidacy (COC) for the Liga ng mga Barangay election scheduled on Monday, said outgoing Liga president Noli Villarosa.
“Wala na ko nag-file kay wala ko number. Useless lang,” said Villarosa, village chief of Barangay Tangub.
The filing of COCs for the Liga elections was from July 25 to July 26.
Villarosa earlier said he would seek reelection, adding that he wants to help village chiefs push for better projects in the city.
In June, he told Panay News, “Kon wala sang may magboto sa akon, batunon ko lang na…pero mapadalagan gid ako.”
Eleven village chiefs allied with the local political group Grupo Progreso led by Mayor Evelio Leonardia have filed their COCs before the Liga Committee on Nominations at the MassKara Hall inside the Bacolod City Government Center on Thursday. They were unopposed.
They include Lady Gles Gonzales of Taculing as president, Franklin Andre Familiaran of Barangay 13 as vice president, Jose Maria Norberto De Leon of Vista Alegre as auditor, and Anthony Jose Ayco of Barangay 15, Rodney Carmona of Sum-ag, Rosinie Distrito of Singcang-Airport, Romel Flores of Villamonte, Ricky Mijares of Banago, Rodolfo Pico of Mansilingan, John Mark Petierre of Barangay 30, and Degie Tanista of Alangilan as directors.
