BACOLOD City – The Leonardo Panaligan Command of the New People’s Army (NPA) said it was behind the killing of an intelligence agent of the Philippine Army in Central Negros.
NPA spokesman Ka JB Regalado said their forces killed Larry De Gracias at around 12:50 p.m. on July 24 in Barangay Bolado, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
De Gracias was facing espionage charges before the People’s Court, Regalado added.
He was also responsible for tagging civilians as members of the NPA which resulted to numerous extrajudicial killings and harassments.
Regalado also accused De Gracias of selling illegal drugs, making him a “direct competitor” of a barangay official in Guihulngan City.
The NPA spokesman said De Gracias was executed after the People’s Court found enough evidence and probable cause against him.
Regalado claimed that De Gracias had been protected by members of the Philippine Army and the Guihulngan City police./PN
