BACOLOD City – Another shooting incident was recorded in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental – this time victimizing a farmer.
The 42-year-old resident Bartolomeo Sorenio was shot to death in Barangay Nagsaha around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a police report showed.
The four suspects in shooting Sorenio were believed to be members of the New People’s Army (NPA).
The suspects – armed with .9mm and .45 pistols – went to Sorenio’s house that day and fired at him several times, the report stated.
Several empty shells of the guns were recovered from the crime scene.
Police have yet to verify the NPA’s involvement in the shooting. They were still determining the motive in the incident.
On Aug. 10, Barangay Nagsaha village chief Virgilio Masicampo Jr., 42, was also shot to death in Barangay Magsaysay, Guihulngan City.
The NPA said its forces were responsible for the shooting.
It also claimed responsibility over the killing of the 56-year-old former village Agapito Euraoba of Barangay San Agustin, Isabela, Negros Occidental, also on Aug. 10.
Euroaba died of multiple gunshot wounds on the body.
The NPA said Masicampo and Euraoba committed “sins” against the masses./PN
