The 43-year-old Senior Police Officer 2 Antonio Broce was hit on the chest, a police report showed.

He was rushed to the Ikaayong Lawas Foundation Hospital in Victorias City where he expired.

Victorias City police head Chief Inspector Eduardo Corpuz said Barangay Alicante, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental resident Richard Artagame was the suspect in the shooting.

Saludes, who sustained a gunshot wound on the stomach, was currently undergoing treatment in a hospital in Bacolod City.

Broce was responding to a commotion that the drunken Artagame started around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday when he was shot with a .45-caliber gun.

The firearm is now in the custody of the police.

Artagme, detained at the Victorias City police station, was facing murder and frustrated murder charges.
