ILOILO City – Jerold Guillermo denied having any sexual relations with his 16-year-old stepdaughter but claimed that her “relationship” with a lesbian irked him.
Guillermo was charged with murder for the death of Allejah Faye Aglibot.
The 38-year-old was accused of shooting the latter to death in their house in Barangay Buntalan, Maasin, Iloilo on Aug. 30.
Guillermo, in a radio interview, claimed he never sexually assaulted the teenager but admitted that he would sometimes hug and sleep next to her.
“I loved her too much – a child I considered as my own,” the suspect, detained at the Maasin police station, said in Hiligaynon. “I got jealous but I never made any sexual advance.”
Guillermo disclosed that Aglibot was in a romantic relationship with a lesbian – and he was opposed to this.
Upon learning that Aglibot was texting with the lesbian on Aug. 30, he grabbed his stepdaughter’s cellphone and threw it. Aglibot then slapped him, Guillermo claimed.
That prompted him to draw out a .45 pistol and fire at his stepdaughter at around 6 p.m. Aglibot headed to their kitchen in an attempt to escape but slipped. Guillermo then shot her again, police investigation showed.
Autopsy results showed Aglibot had gunshot wounds on the head and chest.
Guillermo has been charged with murder in relation to Republic Act 7610, or the Special Protection for Children against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act./PN
