HIMAMAYLAN City – University of St. La Salle (USLS)-Bacolod emerged as the champion of the 1st Mayor Raymund Tongson Jr. Inter-Town Volleyball Men’s Open 2020 held recently in Barangay Buenavista of the city.
Led by Christian Marcelino, USLS-Bacolod clinched the trophy after defeating Pulupundan in the finals, 25-20, 20-25, 15-8. The victors took home the P15,000 championship prize, while Pulupandan settled with P12,000.
Before doing their bragging rights in the finals round, USLS-Bacolod defeated NOPSSCEA 25-18, 25-21, while Pulupandan knocked Iloilo out with 25-18, 25-21 scores. NOPSSCEA salvaged the third place finish after beating Iloilo, 24-25, 25-20, 15-8.
Also part of the Simon Aguillon-mentored USLS team were Herold Parcia, Von Kecayo, Mario Eusala, Jiane Clare Copones, Louie Pudadera, Dale Lucito, Reymart Tabara, Lancelot Dagooc and Jopeth Torico.
Other competing teams were San Carlos City, La Carlota City, Municipality of Pamplona and Cadiz City.
The three day indoor men’s volleyball tournament was part of the Buenahanon Festival 2020 of Himamaylan City./PN
