BACOLOD City – A pre-wedding party turned bloody when four unidentified gunmen opened fire, killing one person and injuring another in Sitio Huwebesan in Barangay Marcelo, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.
The suspects, armed with high-powered firearms, attacked Junrel Pahayahay, 35, and Jenifer Catalugo, 28, around 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 26.
Pahayahay succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds while Catalugo sustained a gunshot wound on the stomach. She was recuperating at the Alfredo Marañon Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
Policemen of Calatrava recovered from the crime scene four fired cartridges of a .45-caliber pistol and a live bullet of an M-16 assault rifle.
They have yet to determine the motive and the identity of the suspects, who fled after the incident./PN
