Elite Lab wallops Pototan in Chairman’s Cup 2-22

ILOILO City – Elite Lab kicked off its campaign in the 21-Under category of Chairman’s Cup 2022 with a resounding 83-54 win over Pototan on Thursday night at the Western Institute of Technology Gym here.

Irele Galas was named as the Toyota Best Player of the Game in the win after spearheading the offense for the John Guanco-mentored Elite Lab (1-0) with 16 markers.

Aside from the St. Roberts International Academy Panda Rockets standout, Fritz Suclan, RJ Pantin and Dave Bagatnan also made their presence felt in Elite Lab’s one sided win.

“We did not expect that the outcome will be like that but it gave us an opportunity to utilize all our players and give them the much needed exposure for our future games,” said Elite Lab co-founder Eugene Chua.

Hoopers, meanwhile, notched its second win in three games after a 73-67 beating of EMB (0-3). 

John Rovic Suarez spearheaded the offense for the winning squad with 23 markers.

Junior Guimaras Leopards, on the other hand, stayed perfect after two games following a 75-57 rout of Medics Creekside Carwash Café (1-1). Kent Andrew Gaitan top-scored with 19 markers for Leopards.

GG Sports, for its part, notched its first win in two outings after 70-68 escape over Team Hustle (1-1) following a game-winning basket from Keith Bernasol.

Bernasol finished the game with 12 markers to be named as co-Toyota Best Players of the Game along with Christian Odchigue, who led the way for GG Sports with 18 points.

ATOP Warriors levelled its standings to 1-1 after a 72-67 escape over Barotac Viejo National High School (0-3). Former National University Bullpup Menard Songcuya had 16 points for the winning team.

Conce Crita Villa cruised to its second win in as many games after an 81-64 beating of Gladiators Ninja (1-1). Agapito Clarito tallied 22 markers for Conce./PN
