BACOLOD City – Power Watch Negros Advocates, Inc. (PWNA) supports the proposed joint venture agreement (JVA) between MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) and Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco).
In a letter to Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Committee on Energy and Public Utilities chairperson Claudio Jesus Puentevella, PWNA secretary general Wennie Sancho said the group will conduct an information campaign to educate consumers on the basic principles of the JVA.
“We are not experts in this area, but we will try our best to present the JVA from a layman’s point of view,” said Sancho.
The JVA, according to Sancho, will result to efficient service and an affordable and reliable power supply for the city.
“We would like to manifest our expression of support for the proposed JVA, which is now in the process and will undergo due diligence,” read part of the letter.
Sancho also said PWNA’s support is grounded on the premise that power supply is vital to economic development.
“A stable, affordable, and reliable power supply will attract more investors, create more job opportunities, increase the workers’ purchasing power, pump the economy and sustain the needs of the people,” he added.
