ILOILO – A young man died in Igbaras town.
Hitching at the back of a passenger jeep, he fell when the vehicle took a sharp turn in Crossing Pasong, Barangay Jovellar on Tuesday afternoon.
The 20-year-old Alwyn Eterno of Barangay Poblacion East, Oton had his cell phone in one hand while the other was gripping the jeepney’s crossbar rail.
“Ang jeep pabalik na sa banwa sang Igbaras halin sa Iloilo City. Ang biktima nagakabit sa right side sa likod. Pag abot sa kurbada nagliko ang jeep, naghuyog ang iya lawas kag napalos ang iya kamot nga naga uyat sa jeep,” Police Lieutenant Martin Pugales, officer-in-charge of Igbaras Municipal Police Station, told Panay News.
Eterno was rushed to the Guimbal District Hospital then transferred to the Western Visayas Medical Center where he was declared dead.
Drivers and conductors were reminded not to overload their jeepneys or let passengers hang off the back or top of the vehicle to avoid accidents./PN
