Guimaras’ P951-M 2024 budget approved

GUIMARAS – The P951,061,206 budget of Guimaras province for 2024 has been unanimously approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP).

The new budget is higher by over P45 million compared to the 2023 budget of P905 million.

On Tuesday, Dec. 12, committee on appropriations chair Board Member Alejandro A. Araneta presented the proposed annual budget for its third and final reading to the 10th SP headed by Vice Gov. John Edward Gando.

The 10th SP also approved the P266,520,000 budget for the Local Economic Enterprise covering the operation of Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital.

A big part of the 2024 budget has been allocated for the provincial government’s operations, like salaries for employees, and a 20 percent development fund for its projects and programs.

“Makadto ini sia sa operations sang provincial government kag 20 percent development fund,” said Gando.

To recall, a large portion of the 2023 budget was allocated for Personal Services and Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses of the provincial government, while 20 percent of the budget went to the development fund for the infrastructure and advocacy of the provincial government.

The rest were allocated to the calamity fund, loan obligations, health services, and education, among others.

Also, P223,010,000 of the 2023 budget was set aside for the operations of the Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital./PN
