BACOLOD City – A driver died after his truck loaded with sacks of rice figured in an accident on Tuesday afternoon, July 23, in Sitio Old Fabrica, Barangay Cabagnaan, La Castellana, Negros Occidental.
Roel Memis, a resident of Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, was rushed to a hospital in Bacolod City but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician due to severe body injuries.
According to the investigation of the La Castellana Municipal Police Station, the truck was from Canlaon City and on its way to deliver 250 sacks of rice to Bacolod when the accident happened.
Police said Memis lost control of the truck when he was negotiating a descending section of the road and it fell into a drainage canal.
His companions managed to get out of the truck but Memis was stuck as he could not open the door, police added./PN
