ILOILO City – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Region 6 is calling on households across Western Visayas to fully cooperate in the upcoming 2025 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES), stressing that their participation is essential in generating accurate data that will influence key government decisions on poverty reduction, income distribution, and inflation measurement.
The FIES, a triennial nationwide survey, aims to capture the income sources, spending behavior, and overall living conditions of Filipino families. It will be conducted in two rounds — first in July 2025 and again in January 2026 — as a rider to the Labor Force Survey (LFS).
In Western Visayas, 312 field personnel will be deployed, composed of 281 Statistical Researchers and 31 Team Supervisors, who will conduct house-to-house interviews across all provinces and Iloilo City. The deployment per area is as follows:
* Aklan – 50 researchers, 5 supervisors
* Antique – 52 researchers, 6 supervisors
* Capiz – 51 researchers, 6 supervisors
* Iloilo Province – 50 researchers, 5 supervisors
* Iloilo City – 53 researchers, 6 supervisors
* Guimaras – 25 researchers, 3 supervisors
PSA Regional Statistical Services Office 6 officer-in-charge chief statistical specialist Nelida Amolar said the agency has been conducting intensive training sessions for field personnel throughout June and early July to ensure quality data collection and field supervision.
The FIES is designed to:
* gather detailed data on family income, sources of income, and expenditures
* determine levels of living, spending patterns, and income inequality
* provide inputs for estimating the national poverty threshold and incidence
* update benchmark information used in calculating the Consumer Price Index (CPI)
