NEGROS Occidental – Silay City police filed a murder complaint against a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) councilor over a shooting incident in the city’s barangays Lantad and Rizal on July 10.
Lieutenant Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca, chief of the Silay City Police Station, said the complaint was filed on July 14 before the City Prosecutor’s Office against the 24-year-old suspect, a resident of Barangay Canlusong, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental.
The suspect was surrendered to the authorities by his family. He was tagged as the motorcycle driver of the Silay shooting suspect.
The suspected gunman, Mark Pelayo, 34, of Cadiz City, was killed in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Burgos, Cadiz City on July 11 just hours after the Silay shooting.
In the Silay shooting, the victim was Fernando Alarcon, 52, of Sitio Beranio, Barangay Lantad, and an electric bike (e-bike) driver. He died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Two other individuals were wounded in separate shootings also linked to Pelayo. The victims were identified as Christopher Tupas, 47, a security guard and resident of Sitio Beranio, Barangay Lantad, and Wilmer Montarde, 45, a maintenance personnel of an amusement park and a resident of Bandong Village, Barangay 7, Victorias City. Both are currently recovering in separate hospitals.
Darroca said once the medical abstracts of the injured victims are secured, additional charges will be filed against the SK councilor./PN
