MARJORIE Barretto went emotional as her 13-year-old daughter, Erich, pursued summer courses at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, Aug. 9, Barretto revealed that Erich had applied and been accepted into the program on her own, choosing to study psychology.

“Her courage takes her places my dreams never reached,” Barretto wrote, recalling their trip to the UK in July. “When she dreams, she goes out and gets them. We can only stand behind her with full support.”

The actress admitted that she felt both anxious and proud as she allowed her daughter to live independently abroad for the program.

“Inside, my mommy heart was breaking… worried she might be too young to be on her own, but at the same time, overflowing with pride,” she expressed. “My eyes in these photos might give away how hard it was to let go.”

Barretto noted that Erich going abroad taught her “the art of letting go” and that “no one is too young or too old to chase after their dreams.”

“I knew I was going to miss her so much, I worried too much, but I was also deeply happy she got to experience things I never even dreamed were possible for me,” she concluded her post.

Barretto has five children from past relationships: one with Kier Legaspi (Dani), three with Dennis Padilla (Julia, Leon and Claudia), and Erich, her daughter with former Caloocan mayor Enrico Echiverri.

Earlier this month, the celebrity mom proudly shared that Julia gave her a brand-new minivan as a special present. (Jessica Ann Evangelista © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
