Iloilo City cops net P1.4 million worth of ‘shabu’, 3 suspects

ILOILO City — Three suspected drug personalities were arrested in a buy-bust operation on October 9, in Zone 14, Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo district for possession of P1.4 million worth of illegal drugs.

The suspects were identified as aliases “Ed,” 52, a truck driver; “Bebe,” 39; and “Jan-Jan,” 32, all residents of the city. They were apprehended at 1:43 a.m. during a coordinated operation by the Iloilo City Police Office’s (ICPO) City Drug Enforcement Unit and Police Station 6.

Authorities recovered a total of 200 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P1.4 million. The suspects had been under surveillance for several days prior to the operation following reports of their illegal activities.

Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, director of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), commended the operating units for the successful operation.

“I congratulate the team for the successful buy-bust operation. This accomplishment reflects our vigilance, dedication, and relentless commitment to our campaign against illegal drugs. Our efforts protect communities from the harm these substances bring. Every successful operation brings us closer to a safer, drug-free Western Visayas,” he said.

Police classified Ed and Bebe as high-value individuals, while Jan-Jan was identified as a street-level suspect. The three are now in police custody and will face charges for violations of Sections 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) under Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
