BACOLOD City – Despite ongoing criticisms and political attacks directed at President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., members of the Visayan Bloc in the House of Representatives have affirmed their continued support for the Chief Executive.
Lone District Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, founder of the Visayan Bloc, said in a statement on his social media page that recent attacks appear intended to distract the nation from the administration’s ongoing reforms.
“In recent days, President Marcos has been the target of political attacks meant to distract the nation from the real work at hand,” Benitez said.
He noted that these criticisms emerged following the President’s “unprecedented and uncompromising” anti-corruption campaign, which has opened investigations, exposed systemic anomalies involving billions of pesos, and challenged long-entrenched networks of influence.
“When a President confronts corruption at this scale, resistance is inevitable. And so is the duty of those who profess to serve the people: to stand firm, stay focused, and finish the work,” he added.
Benitez emphasized that the Visayan Bloc “expresses its full support for President Marcos and, more importantly, for the anti-corruption crusade he began.”
“Good governance is not a partisan project; it is a moral obligation. We stand with the President because we stand with every Filipino who deserves honesty, transparency, and accountability in public service,” he said.
The group also urged fellow government officials and the public to “reject distractions and political theatrics” and instead unite behind reforms that strengthen institutions and restore public trust.
“The fight against corruption is bigger than any individual, administration, or party—and it is a fight we must see through, together,” Benitez said.
He added that the Visayan Bloc will remain a partner in the national effort to ensure this moment becomes “a turning point in our country’s journey toward clean, accountable, and principled governance.”/PN
