
BACOLOD City — The ASEAN Senior Economic Officials Meeting (SEOM) Retreat 2026 held in Boracay Island on December 10-11, was generally peaceful and successful, with zero security incidents recorded, according to the Aklan Police Provincial Office (PPO).
More than 1,500 security personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP), including units from the Aklan PPO and the Police Regional Office, were deployed to ensure the safety and security of delegates, guests, and event venues throughout the duration of the activity.
The PNP said the security coverage was meticulously planned and coordinated to ensure the smooth flow of activities and to maintain peace and order during the international gathering.
As a result of the comprehensive security measures, authorities reported zero untoward incidents during the entire event.
The three-day meeting focused on strategies to further strengthen the economies of ASEAN member countries, including initiatives to boost tourism, with particular emphasis on Boracay Island.
Police officials noted that hosting the ASEAN SEOM Retreat significantly contributed to the continued promotion of Boracay as a world-class destination and helped reinforce Aklan’s position as a key tourism hub in the region.
Security coverage for the event was implemented for a total of one week to ensure the safety of all participants before, during, and after the meeting./PN
