Mother, daughter nabbed with P408K worth of ‘shabu’

BACOLOD City – Police seized approximately P408,000 worth of suspected shabu from a 49-year-old mother and her 25-year-old daughter in an anti-illegal drug operation in Purok Progreso 1, Barangay Vista Alegre here.

The suspects identified by the aliases “Esmeralda” and “Quen”, both residents of the said place and jobless, were caught after they handed over alleged shabu to a poseur buyer in exchange for P1,000, at around 8:38 p.m. on Sunday, February 22.

Operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office’s City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) recovered from the suspects five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets and one knot-tied transparent plastic bag containing the said illegal substance, buy-bust money, and non-drug-related items.

The suspects are now in the custody of Police Station 7 and will face charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. These violations carry severe penalties, including life imprisonment to death and fines ranging from P500,000 to P10 million if proven guilty./PN
