CAPIZ — In a move aimed at boosting local employment and strengthening the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has granted program recognition to the Roxas City Digital Innovation Hub for its Micro-Credential Course (MCC).
The recognition was formally conferred by TESDA Director General Kiko Benitez, marking a milestone in the city government’s efforts to enhance workforce skills and adaptability.
With the recognition, the Roxas City Digital Innovation Hub is now authorized to offer specialized short-term courses focused on inbound and outbound customer service. The program is designed to equip participants with industry-aligned competencies necessary for effective customer engagement, increasing their employability in the competitive BPO industry.
Benitez welcomed the initiative, saying it is encouraging to see Roxas City take proactive steps to strengthen resilience in the BPO sector through the offering of micro-credential programs.
He emphasized that such initiatives help local workers adapt to the evolving demands of the labor market.
Unlike traditional National Certificate (NC) programs, the Micro-Credential Course allows learners to acquire specific skill sets without enrolling in full-length certification courses. This flexible approach enables participants to gain targeted qualifications within weeks or months, making them job-ready in a shorter period.
The Roxas City local government unit (LGU) expressed gratitude to TESDA for recognizing its efforts in workforce development and reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to technical education.
City officials said they aim to maximize TESDA scholarship opportunities to benefit more residents, covering various training and upskilling programs to foster a culture of continuous learning.
The initiative is expected to generate more employment opportunities for Roxasnons, improve household incomes, and contribute to economic stability in the city.
