Man found dead in Sagay sugarcane field

BACOLOD City – A 37-year-old store helper was found lifeless in a sugarcane field in Sitio Yungho, Barangay Poblacion 1, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, on March 18.

According to the Sagay City Component City Police Station (CCPS), the victim identified as alias “Ted” was discovered at approximately 10:55 p.m. on Wednesday by his cousin, who reported the incident to authorities thereafter.

Responding CCPS officers found the victim lying beside the road with blood visible from his mouth. He was rushed to the Alfredo Marañon Sr. District Memorial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Meanwhile, the victim’s mother informed police that her son had been suffering from tuberculosis but had reportedly refused to undergo medical treatment or regular check-ups.

Based on the initial assessment, police noted no signs of foul play or struggle on the victim’s body.

The remains have been brought to the hospital morgue pending a post-mortem examination as part of the standard ongoing investigation. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
