AKLAN — Tight security measures are now in full swing as Boracay Island in Malay town plays host to the 2026 ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF) Chairs’ Meeting, running from March 23 to 28.
To ensure the safety of delegates and the public, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has officially enforced an eight-day suspension of the Permit to Carry Firearms Outside of Residence (PTCFOR) across the entire island.
The suspension took effect at 12:01 a.m. on March 21 and will remain in place until 11:59 p.m. on March 28. During this period, only members of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines, and other authorized law enforcement agencies performing official duties and wearing agency-prescribed uniforms are authorized to carry firearms.
Meanwhile, the Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) has mobilized a formidable force to secure the high-level meeting. Yesterday morning, a comprehensive accounting and pre-deployment briefing was held at the Argao Covered Court in Barangay Argao, Malay.
Over 1,700 security personnel have been activated for the international event. These forces are tasked with maintaining a “zero-incident” environment through strategic checkpoints, maritime patrols, and increased visibility in key areas.
Authorities are seeking the public’s full cooperation to ensure the success of the international event.
“We work together to make ASEAN 2026 safe and secure,” the PNP stated in its advisory.
