ILOILO — A 42-year-old suspect was apprehended on Tuesday afternoon, March 24, following a successful buy-bust operation in Barangay Calaboa, Leganes town, resulting in the recovery of suspected shabu valued at over P2.2 million.
Authorities said the suspect known by the alias “Rexo”, a resident of the said barangay, was tagged as a newly identified high-value individual.
The operation, spearheaded by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), was launched after local residents provided critical tips regarding the suspect’s illegal activities. Police noted that community involvement was instrumental in tracking down the subject.
Recovered during the operation were approximately 335 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P2,278,000.
As of this writing, the PDEU was still conducting a follow-up investigation to identify the source of the suspect’s illegal drug supply and determine the extent of his distribution network within the province.
The suspect is now in police custody and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
