BACOLOD City — The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) reported significant gains in its law enforcement efforts as it marked its first year of full operations, highlighting intensified anti-crime campaigns across the region.
Based on its records from March 27, 2025 to March 20, 2026, PRO-NIR conducted a series of focused, intelligence-driven operations that led to thousands of arrests, major drug seizures, and the disruption of various illegal activities.
In its campaign against wanted persons, authorities arrested 3,841 individuals, including 693 listed as most wanted.
The sustained manhunt operations underscore the police force’s commitment to tracking down fugitives and delivering justice, PRO-NIR said in a statement.
Anti-illegal drug operations also yielded substantial results, with 2,281 operations conducted and 2,708 suspects apprehended. Authorities seized nearly 45 kilograms of suspected shabu valued at more than P305 million, along with about 13 kilograms of marijuana worth over P1.5 million—dealing a significant blow to the region’s illegal drug trade.
Operations against illegal gambling resulted in 831 raids and the arrest of 1,912 individuals, while more than P324,000 in bet money was confiscated.
Meanwhile, efforts to curb loose firearms included 56,914 operations, leading to 374 arrests and the recovery or surrender of 1,601 firearms.
PRO-NIR also strengthened its enforcement of environmental and economic laws.
In its anti-illegal fishing campaign, 232 operations resulted in 657 arrests and the seizure of marine products and equipment worth more than P13 million, supporting the protection of coastal resources.
Anti-smuggling operations likewise intensified, with 171 operations leading to 85 arrests and the confiscation of over P22 million worth of illicit goods.
Regional Director Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas C. Ibay attributed the accomplishments to the dedication and discipline of police personnel across the region.
“As we celebrate our first anniversary, I extend my deepest gratitude to our personnel for their unwavering commitment and professionalism,” Ibay said.
“These accomplishments reflect our collective resolve to safeguard communities, enforce the law, and uphold justice.”
He added that PRO-NIR will continue to strengthen its operations and community partnerships to sustain peace and order.
The establishment of PRO-NIR forms part of the implementation of Republic Act No. 12000, which institutionalized the Negros Island Region as a distinct administrative area. The law was signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on June 13, 2024.
PRO-NIR was officially launched on March 27, 2025.
