ILOILO City — Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) honored the outstanding performance of its nationwide dealer network during the 2026 Hyundai Dealer of the Year (DOTY) Awards held on April 13 at the Solaire Resort Entertainment City Grand Ballroom in Parañaque City.
The annual event recognizes dealerships and individuals who delivered exceptional results over the past year. Carrying the theme “Forged in Strength, Driven to Victory,” this year’s ceremony drew inspiration from Hyundai Steel, symbolizing the brand’s commitment to durability, innovation, and long-term performance.
Among those recognized were two sales consultants from Hyundai Iloilo—Mr. Franklin Mesa Jr. and Mr. Sean Lester Marquez—who each received the prestigious 100 Units Sales Milestone Award. The distinction is given to sales professionals who successfully achieve at least 100 vehicle sales, reflecting both consistency and excellence in customer engagement.
Mesa, who has been with HMPH since 2022, described his journey to reaching the milestone as one that demanded discipline, persistence, and adaptability.
“Reaching 100 units was not easy—it required consistency, discipline, and adapting to challenges,” he shared. “At the start, one of my biggest struggles was building a steady pipeline. There were days with low inquiries and frequent rejections, which tested my confidence.”
To overcome these challenges, Mesa focused on daily prospecting, maximizing online platforms, and actively seeking referrals from satisfied clients. He also emphasized the importance of shifting his strategy when dealing with competition and price-sensitive customers.
“Instead of competing on price alone, I focused on product knowledge and value—highlighting Hyundai’s features, fuel efficiency, warranty, and overall ownership benefits,” he said. “I also improved my follow-up system to make sure no lead was wasted.”
Mesa added that effective time management played a crucial role in his success, particularly in handling multiple clients at different stages of the sales process.
“I used a structured approach—prioritizing hot leads, scheduling follow-ups, and maintaining good after-sales relationships,” he said. “In the end, consistency, product confidence, and strong customer relationships helped me reach 100 units.”
For Marquez, who has been with Hyundai Iloilo for four years and considers it his first job, the milestone was equally challenging and rewarding.
“Reaching 100 units was never easy—it came with its share of real challenges,” he said. “There were slow months, difficult clients, constant rejections, and moments of self-doubt. Even when I gave my best effort, results didn’t always come immediately.”
Marquez highlighted resilience and mindset as key factors in overcoming obstacles.
“One of the biggest challenges was handling rejection and staying consistent. Not every inquiry turns into a sale, and that can be discouraging,” he said. “But instead of taking it personally, I treated every ‘no’ as a step closer to a ‘yes.’”
He also underscored the importance of building trust and understanding clients’ needs rather than focusing solely on closing deals.
“I improved my approach by listening more to clients, understanding their needs, and building trust,” Marquez explained. “Adapting to different personalities and situations made a big difference.”
Despite experiencing burnout at times, Marquez credited discipline and determination for helping him stay on track.
“Showing up every day, staying focused, and reminding myself of my goals helped me push through,” he said. “This milestone is not just about numbers—it’s about growth, resilience, and learning along the way.”
Both Mesa and Marquez also noted how Hyundai has evolved into a more competitive and innovative brand in today’s automotive market.
“Hyundai is no longer seen as just a budget-friendly option—it now offers a strong combination of modern design, advanced technology, and reliability,” Mesa said. He pointed to the brand’s developments in hybrid and electric vehicles as proof of its commitment to innovation.
Marquez echoed this sentiment, describing Hyundai as “a well-balanced brand that gives more than what you pay for,” with continuous improvements in quality and innovation.
As Hyundai Iloilo celebrates the achievements of its award-winning sales consultants, the dealership invites customers to visit its showroom located at Banker’s Village, Quintin Salas, Jaro, Iloilo City, to explore Hyundai’s latest lineup and take advantage of exclusive offers and promotions.
