ILOILO City – Authorities arrested two suspects and seized approximately P1.3 million worth of suspected shabu during separate anti-drug operations in La Paz district between Monday night and early Tuesday morning.
The first sting was carried out at around 9:20 p.m. on May 11 in Barangay Nabitasan. Police arrested alias “Jolan,” 30, a resident of the area, after recovering 140 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P952,000.
Four hours later, at around 1 a.m. on May 12, operatives conducted a second buy-bust in Barangay Baldoza. This operation led to the apprehension of alias “Charlie,” 38, a resident of Barangay Sinikway, Lapuz district. Confiscated from his possession were seven plastic sachets of alleged shabu worth P374,000.
According to the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), the two operations yielded a combined total of 195 grams of illegal substances.
Both suspects were detained at the Iloilo City Police Station 2. They will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002
Police Colonel Wilbert Parilla, ICPO director, commended the units for their back-to-back successes.
“These successful operations send a strong message that the ICPO will relentlessly pursue individuals involved in the illegal drug trade,” Parilla said. “We will intensify our operations and ensure that drug personalities are held accountable before the law.
