ILOILO – Approximately P544,000 worth of suspected shabu was confiscated from a 34-year-old car painter tagged as a high-value individual during a buy-bust operation in Zone 3, Barangay Barroc, Tigbauan, Iloilo, on May 14.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Panoy,” a resident of the said town, was apprehended after more than a month of surveillance and monitoring. A police investigation revealed that he allegedly distributed illegal drugs across Tigbauan, its neighboring towns, and Iloilo City.
Operatives recovered eight heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets and one knot-tied transparent plastic bag containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu. The seized drugs weighed roughly 80 grams.
Also seized from the suspect were the buy-bust marked and proceeds money, and various drug and non-drug-related items.
The sting operation was jointly carried out by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6, the Regional Intelligence Division 6, the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group – Special Operations Unit 6, and the Tigbauan Municipal Police Station (MPS).
Police Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan, director of Police Regional Office 6, lauded the operating units for the significant haul and reiterated the organization’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs.
“This accomplishment reflects the dedication and teamwork of our personnel in keeping illegal drugs away from our communities. We will continue to strengthen our anti-illegal drug operations and ensure that those involved in illegal drug activities are held accountable under the law,” Ligan said.
The suspect is currently detained at the Tigbauan MPS, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)./PN
