IPPO seizes P73.2-M illegal drugs, nabs 248 suspects in 5 months

ILOILO City — The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) has seized an estimated P73.2 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested 248 drug personalities during its provincewide operations over the first five months of the year.

Data from the IPPO showed that from January to May, various municipal police stations conducted a total of 182 anti-illegal drug operations, leading to the confiscation of approximately 18.8 kilograms of shabu.

Police Colonel Bayani Razalan, IPPO director, noted that for the month of May alone, the provincewide crackdown yielded 37 operations and resulted in the arrest of 45 individuals. Among those apprehended were 14 high-value individuals (HVIs) tagged as major regional sources and distributors, and 31 street-level individuals (SLIs) caught directly selling to end-users.

The May operations alone led to the recovery of around 2,335 grams of shabu with an estimated value of P15.8 million.

Razalan commended his police chiefs and personnel for their strong performance in the region’s anti-narcotics campaign.
