ILOILO City — The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) arrested 23 individuals and confiscated 242 firearms and 17 explosive devices during a series of citywide operations spanning the first six months of the year.
Data from the ICPO covering January to June revealed that the city’s various police stations conducted a total of 238 operations. Of the 242 firearms yielded, 156 were voluntarily surrendered, 60 were deposited for safekeeping, and 26 were confiscated during targeted police operations.
The Iloilo City Police Station 3 (ICPS3) topped the campaign with 25 logged accomplishments. It was followed by ICPS1 and ICPS6 with 24 each; ICPS5 with 22; and ICPS2 with 21. Meanwhile, the Iloilo City Mobile Force Company (ICMFC), ICPS4, and ICPS7 recorded 20 accomplishments each, followed by ICPS9 and ICPS10 with 18 each. The City Intelligence Unit (CIU) registered six, while the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) contributed four.
“The recovery of 242 firearms and 17 explosives reflects the potential harm these weapons could have caused in our communities,” said ICPO director Police Colonel Wilbert Parilla. “This accomplishment strengthens our resolve to rid Iloilo City of illegal firearms and explosives. Our operations will remain relentless, and we appeal to the public to continue collaborating with the PNP to ensure a secure and peaceful city.”
