Man shot dead in front of daughter in Anilao

ILOILO – A 60-year-old man was killed by riding-in-tandem gunmen in Barangay Dangula-an, Anilao, Iloilo on Tuesday morning, July 28, in what police suspect was an old grudge-related attack.

According to Police Captain Rosela Buenvinida, officer-in-charge of the Anilao Municipal Police Station (MPS), the victim, identified only as alias “Dan,” a resident of the same village, was traveling by motorcycle with his 14-year-old daughter to a court hearing in Barotac Viejo town around 6 a.m. when the suspects opened fire.

Despite his injuries, the victim managed to run about 10 meters with his daughter, but one of the gunmen pursued him and shot him again. The 14-year-old girl escaped unharmed, according to a GMA Super Radyo Iloilo report.

Authorities recovered approximately 16 spent shells from a caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.

Police records revealed that the victim was involved in a feud in 2024, during which he filed charges of attempted murder, attempted homicide, and illegal discharge of firearms against an individual. Separate grave threat charges were also previously filed against the victim.

As of press time, officers of the Anilao MPS have identified a person of interest as the manhunt for the fleeing suspects continued./PN
