NEGROS Occidental – A 27-year-old motorcycle rider lost his life after crashing into the back of a parked wing van truck along the national highway in Sitio Mohon, Barangay Binicuil, Kabankalan City late Tuesday night, September 15.
Kabankalan City police identified the victim as alias “Jojo,” a married resident of Barangay 2, Himamaylan City.
Investigation revealed that the victim was riding his motorcycle at around 11:30 p.m. when he rammed into the rear of a stationary Fuso wing van truck with plate number NAW 9589.
The truck driver, 27-year-old alias “Jay,” told police he had temporarily parked along the roadside to take a coffee break and had activated his hazard lights.
Responding personnel from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) rushed the victim to the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital. Attending physicians declared him dead on arrival due to severe head injuries.
Police said a companion of Jojo claimed he had consumed two small bottles of rum after receiving his salary before driving home.
The truck driver, along with both vehicles, was brought to the Kabankalan City Police Station for documentation and proper disposition./PN
