BACOLOD City – Police are hunting down two suspects in a shooting and stabbing incident.
Rene Ybañez and son Ruel, residents of Barangay Sto. Niño, Tanjay City, Negros Oriental, allegedly killed Rommel Ardenia of the same barangay in Sitio Namonbon in the village on Jan. 14.
Rene shot Ardenia during a confrontation at a flea market, said Senior Police Officer 1 Joseph Olis of Tanjay City police station.
Ardenia tried to draw a bladed weapon, but Ruel repeatedly stabbed him on the abdomen, according to Olis.
Sto. Niño barangay tanod Efren Villajos responded and tried to arrest Ruel, but the latter and Rene managed to escape.
All Villajos recovered was a .38 firearm.
Land dispute was the motive in the attack, police said./PN
