ILOILO City – A 55-year-old woman admitted killing her son-in-law in Barangay Dumiles, San Enrique, Iloilo.
“Kay masabad kag napuno na ako (He was troublesome. I’ve had enough of it),” said Nida Jimenez in a radio interview.
Her son-in-law, the 30-year-old Wilmer Sillarico, died while being rushed to the Passi District Hospital on Jan. 19 immediately after the shooting around 8:15 p.m.
A 12-gauge shotgun was used on Sillarico who died of a gunshot wound on the chest.
“Dugay ko na nga ginaplano nga tiruhon siya (I have long planned to shoot him),” said Jimenez.
The shooting happened at Jimenez’s house. She and Sillarico lived in separate houses but within one compound.
“Sillarico went to his mother-in-law’s house. He was shot by the door,” said Police Officer 1 Abelardo Palma Jr. of the San Enrique police station.
Sillarico and Jimenez were not on good terms, he added.
October last year, Sillarico filed a frustrated homicide complaint against a brother-in-law (a son of Jimenez), said Palma.
Sillarico’s wife was a nurse working abroad, according to the police.
Jimenez surrendered the shotgun to the police. She was detained at the San Enrique police station.
According to Palma as of this writing, the family of Sillarico were still weighing their legal options./PN
