ILOILO City – The personnel of Police Station 1 came out with a petition asking the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) to relieve their commander, Chief Inspector Aldrin Lamera.
The personnel accused Lamera of conduct unbecoming of a police officer, grave misconduct, oppression, deliberately damaging government property, conduct prejudicial to the interest of the service, and gross discourtesy in the course of official duties.
Under Lamera, the atmosphere at Police Station 1 was no longer conducive for working harmoniously, they claimed.
The petitioners were police non-commissioned officers and a non-uniformed personnel. They claimed Lamera often shouted at them and talked offensively, embarrassing them during conferences.
Lamera also often threatened them with low performance ratings, they added.
At one point, Lamera destroyed a police station property when he got angry, they further claimed.
Lamera denied the accusations but admitted scolding his men at one point because they reported to work late and were often tinkering with their phones either playing games or checking their Facebook accounts.
“They’re unfair to other police personnel who report to the office on time and are busy working,” said Lamera.
He recalled an incident during the Dinagyang Festival; he caught them busy with their Facebook accounts.
“We were on heightened alert pero nakita ko sila naga-Facebook lang. Sin-o indi mag-init ulo sa ila? Ang iban naga-report aga pa kag nagaobra. I don’t like that attitude. We are being paid to work, not to play,” said Lamera./PN
