KALIBO, Aklan – Families of police officers wounded in a road crash in Makato town were appealing for help to pay hefty hospital expenses.
Police Officer 2 Kynch Parce and Police Officer 3 Rufino Donato were confined in private hospitals.
The crash on the highway in Barangay Calangcang, Makato on March 6 resulted in the death of two civilians.
Parce, a resident of New Washington, is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital in Iloilo City. He had fractured shoulder and leg.
On the other hand, Donato, a resident of Kalibo, is also in the ICU of the Panay Health Care Multipurpose Cooperative Hospital in this capital town. He had fractured arm and leg.
Parce is in “critical” condition, according to his brother Senior Police Officer 1 Cyrus Alph Parce.
“My brother is responding,” Cyrus Alph Parce said. “When his blood pressure gets stable, he will undergo surgery for badly damaged liver and intestine. He also needs type AB blood and platelet transfusion.”
“We are hoping and praying for his recovery, and truly thankful for everyone who prayed and gave generous assistance to my brother,” he added.
Financial support for Parce and Donato may be coursed through the Aklan Police Provincial Office and the municipal police stations.

A motorcycle crashed into a parked truck around 10 p.m. on March 6.
Thirty minutes later, a Caticlan-bound passenger van driven by Ricardo Palmes of Calinog, Iloilo rammed into civilians and investigating police officers near the vehicles.
Motorcycle driver Erwin Melanio of Barangay Cabatanga, Makato and truck driver Rogelio Autor of Bicol were killed. Three officers were injured. Police Officer 2 Niel Serino suffered minor wounds.
Palmes was charged with reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and physical injuries, and detained at the Aklan Rehabilitation Center. (With Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
