BORACAY – The venues and billeting quarters in Aklan are ready to host the athletes, coaches and sports officials for the biggest sporting event in Western Visayas.  

Miguel Mac Aposin, Schools Division Superintendent in Aklan, said they are prepared to welcome around 5,000-strong contingent for the 2020 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet slated Feb. 15 to 22.

Aposin cited the partnership of the provincial government under the leadership of Gov. Florencio Miraflores and the Department of Education with the support of community stakeholders in hosting the annual multi-sports competition in the region.

The Aklan Sports Complex in Barangay Calangcang, Makato town is the venue of the opening ceremonies on Feb. 16.      

Aside from Makato, six other towns will also host the delegates with events happening in the towns of Kalibo, Numancia and Malinao. 

The province last hosted WVRAA in 2015 for student athletes in elementary and secondary level.(With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
