KALIBO, Aklan – Colonel Esmeraldo Osia Jr., director of the Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO), ordered his personnel to always observe discipline and hygiene as parts of the bid to suppress the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak.

According to the province’s top cop, police officers could effectively and efficiently protect the public against the COVID-19 if they are, likewise, guarded from it. The best way to do such is for police officers to strictly enforce among themselves the decontamination protocol.

The said protocol extends to the visitors and the service vehicles of APPO and all the municipal police stations in the province.

Osia said: “Ang disiplina ng buong pwersa ay nagmumula sa ating mga sarili. Hindi lamang ito para sa bawat tao na pinaglilingkuran natin, bagkus para rin sa mga mahal natin sa buhay na ating inuuwian.”

A week ago, aside from alcohol based sanitizing, a portable wash station was installed outside the Camp Pastor Martelino in Barangay New Buswang here, which requires police personnel and clients to properly wash their hands before entering the place.

Information officer of APPO, Ma. Jane Vega, said that the protocol being applied at the camp is also practiced by all police stations in the province.

She added that individuals and vehicles entering all police stations in Aklan are sprayed with disinfectants.

Since March 23, APPO started the implementation of the “one entrance and one exit policy” in its premises to ensure that everyone follows all the decontamination protocol.

According to Vega, the protocol should be followed by everybody. No one is exempted to ensure that the police personnel and police stations in Aklan are guarded against the coronavirus as ordered by Osia.(With a report from PIA/PN)
