SAN JOSE, Antique – Around 800 face shields were distributed to the frontliners in various towns of this province.
The municipalities of San Jose, Sibalom, Belison, Hamtic, Tobias Fornier, Tibiao, and Pandan were the recipients of the personal protective equipment (PPEs), which were provided by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Antique Response Emergency Action Team (REAcT) in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross-Antique.
The initiative served as an expression of support to the frontliners fighting to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic in the province.
The other recipients of the PPEs were the frontliners working in banks, the public market in this capital town, personnel of the Provincial Health Office, and some of the media practitioners.
Aside from the effort of creating makeshift face shields, the DENR-PENRO and the Antique National School Secondary Department have turned over empty plastic bottles to the University of Antique, which will be used in creating containers for hand sanitizers, hand dips and footbaths.
Meanwhile, DENR-PENRO head Andres Untal is urging both the public and private agencies and institutions to donate their used public bottles in support to the initiative. Private individuals may also do as well.
“All these efforts show relevancy of public service during this challenging times and it is of great help if each one of us is brave enough to take the risk for the benefit of all,” Untal said.(With a report from PIA/PN)
