Aklan delivers 6.0%economic growth in 2024

AKLAN – This province delivered a 6.0 percent economic growth in 2024 – slower than the 9.6 percent growth posted in 2023, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported.

Last year, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Aklan was estimated at P73.86 billion.

Among the major industries, human health and social work activities recorded the fastest growth rate of 12.8 percent. This was followed by electricity, steam, water and waste management with 11.0 percent, and wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles with 9.4 percent.

Excluding highly urbanized city (HUC) in Western Visayas, Aklan’s economy was the fastest growing among provinces, followed by Capiz with 5.0 percent, and Antique with 4.4 percent.

The region’s GDP, meanwhile, reached P641.76 billion last year, up from P615.47 billion in 2023. The figure reflects a shift from the sharp 7.3 percent growth recorded the previous year, PSA added./PN
