Alex Diaz backs Tony Labrusca, says actor wasn’t only one at fault in airport incident

KAPAMILYA star Alex Diaz on Friday commended his colleague Tony Labrusca for “rising above” criticism over the actor’s alleged disrespect for an Immigration official in the capital’s airport in a recent incident, adding his friend was “not the only one at fault.”

Labrusca recently drew flak after the “Glorious” actor allegedly threw a fit at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) when Immigration officials told him he could only stay in the country for 30 days.

“I was also at immigration and saw the whole thing go down. So trust me when I say kudos to you homie for rising above it,” Diaz said in a tweet posted hours after Labrusca posted a public apology on social media.

“@tonythesharky wasn’t the only one at fault but he was made to look like the bad guy when both sides had faults,” said Diaz, who had returned to Manila from Canada with Labrusca.

Diaz said the Immigration officials claimed they did not know who Labrusca was “but proceeded to blast him on social media right off the bat.”

Sana we hunt for both sides always before passing judgment, slandering or defaming people,” he said.

The “Ang Probinsyano” cast member said he also came across a “not so friendly” Immigration officer when he left for a trip abroad.

“I was also met with a not so friendly i.o at Immigration leaving the country who saw my Canadian passport and said ‘Oh anong gusto mong gawin ko dito?’ in a sarcastic tone until I pulled up my Filipino Passport,” Diaz tweeted.

“Immigration isn’t ☀[sunny emoji] and [bouquet of flowers emoji] by any stretch of the imagination,” he said.

Labrusca earlier said he was “deeply sorry” for the incident that prompted the Bureau of Immigration to issue a public warning that people who disrespect airport authorities may be blacklisted. (ABS-CBN News)
