BACOLOD City – The first injection point for the bulk water supply project of the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) was almost complete.
The pipelines for the Barangay Granada site were ready, while the water clarifiers, multimedia filter and flocculation tanks were nearly finished, the contractor Bacolod Bulk Water, Inc. (BBWI) announced on Sept. 2.
“Working on this huge project with such a tight schedule demands perseverance and hard work,” said project engineer Joey Pastorel.
Since the building permit was released, they have been working to finish the project by October, Pastorel added.
The intake facility, administrative office and storage facilities for the project operation were also complete.
Baciwa and BBWI – a consortium of Mactan Rock Industries, Inc., Tubig Pilipinas Group, Inc. and TGV Builders, Inc. – signed the project contract on March 2 last year.
Under the project, BBWI shall supply bulk water through two injection points in barangays Granada (Injection Point 1) and Mansilingan (Injection Point 2) for 25 years.
The operation of Injection Point 1 will “significantly” improve water supply in the city, said BBWI.
The 10-kilometer pipeline connecting Sum-ag River in Murcia Negros Occidental to Injection Point 2 was in progress.
Tubig Pilipinas Group, Inc. provided the pipelines 700 millimeters to 800 millimeters in diameter.
In May, Baciwa Board of Directors chairman Lorendo Dilag promised that the project will start in July – three months earlier than the October deadline./PN
