WHILE Andres Muhlach acknowledged that he’s part of the prominent Muhlach clan, he said he doesn’t want to delve too deeply into it, as he’s simply grateful to have parents who support him.

The 23-year-old Andres is the son of the 1990s matinee idol Aga Muhlach and Miss Universe Philippines 1994 Charlene Gonzales. He is also the twin brother of “Eat Bulaga” host Atasha Muhlach and is related to showbiz greats Amalia Fuentes and Niño Muhlach.Yet Andres said he doesn’t want the public to see him merely as a nepo baby.

“I try not to think of it as anything. I wouldn’t say it’s a compliment and I wouldn’t say it’s a mean thing as well,” he said during the press conference of the web drama “Ang Mutya ng Seksyon E.”

The actor also pointed out that his surname is “out of [his] control” and would rather focus on being grateful for having good parents.

“Either way, no matter where we’re born, you’re not able to choose where you’re born and it’s out of my control. But more than anything, I’m really grateful that I have loving parents who are always there to support me above anything else,” he said.

Aside from his main character in “Da Pers Family,” Andres is one of the leads of the web drama “Ang Mutya ng Seksyon E,” which is based on the Wattpad novel of the same name. It is directed by Theodore Boborol and also stars Ashtine Olviga and Rabin Angeles. (Hannah Mallorca © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
