BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental provincial government will build another animal breeding farm next year, this time in the south.
The breeding farm in Barangay Cabadiangan, Himamaylan City will cater to animal raisers in the 5th and 6th districts, the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) said.
Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. has given the go-signal to put up the facility to be added to existing capitol-run livestock farms, said Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena.
Others were the Negros First Ranch in Barangay Santa Rosa, Murcia town and the Provincial Livestock Breeding Center and Dairy Farm in Barangay La Granja, La Carlota City.
The province also maintains satellite multiplier farms in Kabankalan City, Sagay City and Calatrava town, among other areas.
Capitol bought the property in Himamaylan, where the latest breeding farm will be built, from the Benedicto family.
Personnel from the PVO, Provincial Planning and Development Office, and Livestock Production Division are currently conducting a physiology study and will later draft a funding proposal, Decena said.
Through the new breeding farm, the PVO will work on integrated development, which includes acclimatizing the animals in the area and ensuring sources of rice bran and indigenous grass for feeds, he said. (PNA)
