DALLAS Mavericks are sending forward Anthony Davis to Washington Wizards as part of a sweeping eight-player trade heading into the trade deadline on Thursday (Friday morning in the Philippines).
Under the deal, the Mavericks will receive Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham and Marvin Bagley III, along with two first-round draft picks and three second-round selections.
Washington, meanwhile, also acquires Jaden Hardy, D’Angelo Russell and Dante Exum along with 10-time NBA All-Star Davis, who has been sidelined since Jan. 8 with a hand injury.
The move ends a turbulent chapter in Dallas following the controversial trade that sent Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers on February 2, 2025, in exchange for Davis.
Fan backlash from that deal contributed to the firing of general manager Nico Harrison in November. Davis made only nine starts last season and struggled to find consistency amid injuries and roster changes.
Elsewhere around the league, the Philadelphia 76ers are trading Filipino-American guard Jared McCain to defending champions Oklahoma City Thunder for four draft picks.
McCain, the No. 16 overall pick in 2024, averaged 6.6 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 16.8 minutes over 37 games this season. Philadelphia will receive the Houston Rockets’ 2026 first-round pick and three future second-round selections.
In another move, the Cleveland Cavaliers agreed to trade Lonzo Ball and two second-round picks to the Utah Jazz, with Ball’s representatives and the Jazz expected to discuss for his release.
Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors were engaged in a three-team trade that send Chris Paul to Toronto, Ochai Agbaji, a 2032 Raptors second-round pick and cash to the Nets.
Toronto will not require Paul to report immediately and may explore further trade options, while also moving below the luxury tax threshold.
Chicago Bulls are trading Coby White and Mike Conley Jr. to the Charlotte Hornets for Collin Sexton, Ousmane Dieng and three second-round picks.
Dieng and a second-rounder were first acquired by Charlotte from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Mason Plumlee before being rerouted to Chicago as part of the larger deal.
The Atlanta Hawks are also sending Jock Landale to the Utah Jazz for cash considerations, while Orlando Magic shipped veteran guard Tyus Jones to the Hornets for cash./PN
